4-The Emperor
Upright
The Emperor is someone who takes responsibility for his actions. The father or the father figure type. He is masculine without being "machismo". He is loyal and honest but definitely not a push-over. He is masculinity in its most positive forms, strong and supportive. This card represents rationality, logic, and direct communications. He has and will take control of difficult situations, but he will be the kind of leader that many will want to follow. If you asked about a relationship, he takes you and the relationship seriously, but he decides the pace. Just be patient and he will make his intentions known.
Reversed
This Emperor is controlling. He might be striving for unattainable perfection. Imagine the husband in "Sleeping With The Enemy" with Julia Roberts! No Thank You! Things have to be his way or no way, rigid with his thoughts and unyielding. He will have a set routine and schedule that can not be broken. If you asked about a relationship, if you are a neat freak to the point of severe OCD and your unyielding schedule matches his, give it a try, but if you are like most people -normal- run now!
5-The Hierophant
Upright
The
Hierophant is about tradition, marriage, and ritual. It represents a
religion, club or any kind of specific social network that brings people
together for a common cause, goal, and/or belief. The
Hierophant can be a priest/pastor/bishop or someone who has has found
their spirituality through organized religion. These gatherings have
specific orders, rules, and rituals, that are about compassion, giving
gratitude, and helping others. This card also represents a traditional
or even an arranged marriage that is based on respect and honesty.
*Remember many cultures do not shun arranged marriages and may look
forward to their parents picking a good match, they do have a say to the
choices.
Reversed
When these
organizations become perverted, corrupted, and stifling. Think of when a
group of people "drink the cool-aide". When religion becomes based on
power and the control of others. If you are apart of a group where you
feel afraid to speak your mind, or are frightened for your life, feel
that if you were to disagree you would be banished from your community,
or forced into marriage, these are examples of The Hierophant reversed.
